Smarter Solar Storage

What Is a SolaX Home Battery?

A SolaX home battery stores surplus solar electricity for use later, helping your home use more of its own solar energy after sunset.

During the day, solar power runs your home and can charge the battery. At night, stored energy can help power your appliances. If solar and battery supply aren't enough, your home can draw electricity from the grid.

✓ The right battery configuration depends on your energy use, electricity tariff, solar system and inverter compatibility.
How Solar Battery Storage Works
Solar panels generate Daytime sunlight converted to electricity
Your home uses solar first Appliances run on live solar output
Surplus charges the battery Extra solar stored for later use
Stored energy powers your evening Battery discharges after sunset
Grid fills any gap Imports or exports as required
Actual energy flow depends on system design, battery charge, household demand and grid settings.

Australian Government Incentives

Can You Get a Rebate on a SolaX Battery in Australia?

Eligible home battery installations can receive support through the Australian Government's Cheaper Home Batteries Program. The program provides around a 30% discount on eligible battery systems through small-scale technology certificates (STCs).

~30% upfront discount 5–100 kWh systems Must pair with solar

STC Support Tapers by Battery Size

From 1 May 2026, the level of STC support is tiered based on usable battery capacity. The first 14 kWh receives the full STC factor, with lower rates applying to additional capacity.

0 – 14 kWh
100%
Full STC factor applied. Covers most typical single-battery home installations.
14 – 28 kWh
60%
STC factor applied at 60% for capacity in this band. Suits larger households with higher evening demand.
28 – 50 kWh
15%
STC factor applied at 15%. Support is available up to 50 kWh of usable capacity only.

Important timing note: The STC factor also declines over time. For installations in May–December 2026, the STC factor is 6.8 per kWh. This will reduce to 5.7 in the first half of 2027 and continue declining until the scheme ends in 2030. The discount you receive is determined by the STC factor on the date your battery is installed, not when you sign a contract.

Eligibility Requirements for the Rebate

Meeting the eligibility criteria is essential before any incentive can be included in a quote. The program rules apply to the specific installation, not just the battery model.

▤ Battery & System Requirements

  • Battery system must have a nominal capacity between 5 kWh and 100 kWh.
  • Battery must be listed on the Clean Energy Council (CEC) approved product list at the time of installation.
  • Must be paired with a new or existing solar PV system. Batteries installed without solar are not eligible.
  • On-grid systems must have Virtual Power Plant (VPP) capability through the inverter.
  • Only one battery system per premises can receive support.

⚙ Installation Requirements

  • Installation must be completed by or supervised on-site by a Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) accredited installer.
  • Must comply with all relevant Australian Standards including AS/NZS 5139 (battery safety) and AS/NZS 4777 (grid connection).
  • Battery must be tested as capable of storing and discharging energy on or after 1 July 2025.
  • Installers must provide geotagged and timestamped photographs of critical labelling and serial numbers.

Does every SolaX battery qualify? No — do not assume that every SolaX model or configuration automatically qualifies. The exact product, inverter pairing and installation arrangement must be checked against the current CEC approved product list and program rules before an incentive is included in a quote.

Program rules, STC factors and eligibility criteria are subject to change. The figures shown reflect the program settings as published by the Australian Government as of 2026. Always confirm the current rules against the official Clean Energy Regulator and DCCEEW resources before quoting.

How to Connect Your Phone to a SolaX Inverter

Compatible SolaX systems can send monitoring information to SolaXCloud through a supported communication device and internet connection. If your installer has already registered your system, you may only need access to the existing site.

From installation to monitoring in six steps

The exact menu names and connection method vary by inverter, communication device and app version. Use the instructions for your particular device.

QUICK OVERVIEW
!

Before you start: Have your SolaXCloud login and the device registration QR code or number available. Your inverter must have a compatible communication device. If the system is already commissioned, ask your installer how to access the registered site rather than creating a duplicate.

Your setup journey
1

Download the official SolaXCloud app

Search for SolaXCloud in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and check the publisher before installing. You can also visit the official SolaXCloud website for more information.

2

Create an account or sign in

New users should follow the registration and email verification prompts. If your installer has already created the site, ask for the correct account access or invitation instead of setting up a second site.

3

Connect your phone to the device hotspot

For many Pocket Wi-Fi setups, open your phone's Wi-Fi settings and select the network named Wifi_Sxxxxxxxxx — the number matches the Registration No. printed on your Pocket Wi-Fi dongle.

Tip: Your phone may warn that this network has no internet. That's expected — keep the connection and move to the next step.
4

Access the dongle's setup page

Open a browser on your phone and go to 192.168.10.10 (Pocket Wi-Fi V3.0 and later) or 5.8.8.8 (older versions). Log in with username admin and the password printed on the dongle label.

5

Connect the dongle to your home Wi-Fi

Tap Find AP, select your home network (must be 2.4 GHz — 5 GHz is not supported), enter your Wi-Fi password and save. The dongle will reboot and connect automatically.

6

Open your monitoring dashboard

Return your phone to its normal Wi-Fi or mobile data connection, reopen the SolaXCloud app and select your registered site. Allow a few minutes for the device to come online and start reporting data.

Already have an installed SolaX system? Start by asking your installer whether SolaXCloud is already configured and how to access the existing site. This is often simpler than configuring the communication device again.
02 / Quick troubleshooting
