ENGINEERED FOR AUSTRALIA

What Makes GoodWe
Batteries Different?

Beyond the specs sheet — here's what the GoodWe technology actually means for your home, your safety, and your energy future.

CHEMISTRY

LFP (LiFePO₄) Chemistry

GoodWe uses Lithium Iron Phosphate across its residential families — the Lynx Home U, Lynx F G2, Lynx U G3, and ESA All-in-One.

Why it matters: LFP offers superior thermal stability and chemical safety compared to older lithium chemistries. No cobalt, longer cycle life — a safer, more sustainable choice for home storage.
DESIGN

Modular & Stackable

Built from individual battery modules. The Lynx F G2 uses 3.2 kWh modules, while the ESA uses 5 kWh or 8 kWh modules.

Why it matters: No forced "fixed" size. Your installer builds a stack that matches your budget and energy usage today — you don't pay for capacity you don't need.
SCALABILITY

Expandable for the Future

Add more modules later. The ESA even supports mixing old and new battery modules in the same stack — no need to discard your existing batteries to upgrade.

Why it matters: As your family grows or you buy an EV, you can easily scale up storage. Future-proof your investment against changing energy needs.
CONTROL

Smart SEMS+ Monitoring

Every GoodWe system connects to the SEMS+ platform. Full visibility over solar generation, battery charge level, household consumption, and grid export.

Why it matters: Knowledge is power. Track exactly when you're using solar vs. the grid — then adjust habits (like running the dishwasher during the day) to maximise savings.
DURABILITY

Australian Weather Rated

Designed for tough Australian conditions. The ESA series is rated IP66 (highly water and dust resistant), Lynx Home U & U G3 are IP65, and Lynx F G2 is IP55.

Why it matters: The ESA's IP66 rating means safe outdoor installation — exposed carports or external walls — without worrying about rain or extreme heat affecting performance.

GOVERNMENT INCENTIVES

GoodWe Battery Rebates
in Australia

The federal government is heavily subsidising home batteries to help Australians store cheap solar. Here is how the Cheaper Home Batteries Program works, and how to use it to your advantage.

Cheaper Home Batteries Program

Delivered through the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES), the government provides a discount of around 30% off the upfront cost of eligible battery systems connected to rooftop solar.

Important: The discount is handled by your installer via STCs (Small-scale Technology Certificates). You will not receive a cheque in the mail; the savings are applied directly to your quote.

Estimated Value ~$372 / kWh For systems installed in 2025
Max Capacity Supported 50 kWh STCs only apply to first 50kWh
1

Choose an Eligible System

You must install a CEC-approved battery system paired with a new or existing solar system.

2

System Meets Rules

The system must be grid-connected and capable of Virtual Power Plant (VPP) participation.

3

Installer Handles STCs

Your accredited installer manages the paperwork and STC creation through the Clean Energy Regulator.

4

Discount Applied

The value of the STCs is deducted from your final invoice, reducing your upfront cost.

Important Change: The Tiered Rebate (From 1 May 2026)

To encourage "right-sizing" and prevent oversized batteries, the government introduced a tiered discount structure. This means larger batteries no longer get the full rebate on every kWh.

First 14 kWh
100%

14 – 28 kWh
60%

28 – 50 kWh

Why GoodWe ESA is Perfect for the Rebate

Because the ESA uses modular 5 kWh and 8 kWh battery modules, you have total control over your capacity. You can mix and match modules to hit the sweet spot of 13-14 kWh to capture the full 100% rebate tier, without paying for excess capacity you don't need.

And if your energy needs grow later, the ESA allows you to add more modules. The system grows with you, and you never lose the value of your initial investment.

Mix 5kWh + 8kWh = 13kWh (Full Rebate Tier)

Disclaimer: Rebate eligibility depends on the specific battery model, installation requirements, system configuration, and current government legislation. STC prices fluctuate. Always confirm eligibility and final pricing with your accredited installer before making a purchase.

SYSTEM CONTROL

Take control
of your energy.

GoodWe's SEMS+ platform is your window into the system — mobile and web. Set it up in five steps, read your live data, and know exactly what to check if it ever goes dark.

05 STEPS / ~10 MIN SETUP / iOS · ANDROID · WEB
01

Download SEMS+

Grab it from the App Store or Google Play. Needs Android 7.0+ or iOS 15.1+.

02

Create your account

Sign up with the email you want tied to your monitoring — or log in if you already have one.

03

Get plant access

Your installer already created a plant. Don't make a new one — ask them to add your account.

04

Connect to the network

Wi-Fi (10m), LAN (100m), or Bluetooth (5m) — depending on your comms hardware.

05

Read your data

Solar, battery SoC, home use, grid import/export, and alarms — live, in one view.

NOTE

Already installed?

You probably don't need a new plant. Ask your installer — or the existing plant admin — to give or transfer access to your SEMS+ account.

OFFLINE?

Check these first

  1. 1Is your home internet / router working?
  2. 2Is the Wi-Fi / LAN cable still connected to the inverter?
  3. 3Is the inverter powered on? Check its display.
  4. 4Still down? Note the serials and call your installer.
SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS

When Something
Looks Wrong

Most "problems" with a home battery are not faults — they're communication dropouts, normal operating modes, or the system holding energy back on purpose.

Select a scenario below
Never open electrical enclosures.

System Shows "Offline"

Usually a network issue

Don't assume the battery is faulty. The monitoring system has likely just lost connection to your home Wi-Fi.

1

Is your home internet working?

2

Has the router been reset or replaced recently?

3

Is the inverter's comms device still plugged in?

4

Does the system reconnect once the network is back?

GoodWe supports Wi-Fi, LAN, and 4G links. Most offline alerts clear on their own once your home network is restored.

Battery Isn't Charging

Solar or mode issue

Often related to how much solar is being generated right now, or the schedule you've set in the app.

1

Is it a cloudy day or late afternoon? (Low solar generation)

2

What is the current battery state of charge? (Is it already full?)

3

Is there a "Time of Use" or schedule preventing charging?

4

Is grid charging enabled in the current operating mode?

Warning: Do not attempt to change advanced inverter settings yourself. Leave that to your installer.

Battery Isn't Discharging

System holding energy

Sometimes the system is holding energy back on purpose to reserve it for a blackout or peak rates.

1

Is the household demand very low? (System may rely on solar only)

2

Is there a "Backup Reserve" set to keep energy for outages?

3

Is there a Time-of-Use schedule waiting for peak hours?

4

What is the minimum state-of-charge limit set?

A battery can look "idle" on the app when it's actually reserving charge for a blackout. This is normal behavior.

GoodWe Shows an Alarm

Action required

An alarm means the system has detected an issue. Read it first, then collect the details below before calling your installer.

Where to find it: SEMS+ App → Power Station → Alarms

Have this ready for your installer:

✓

Inverter & Battery model

✓

Serial number

✓

Alarm / Error code

✓
