GoodWe: Powering Smarter Energy Solutions Worldwide
GoodWe is a global renewable energy technology company specialising in solar inverters, energy storage and smart energy solutions. Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Suzhou, China, GoodWe has grown into an international brand with products installed in over 100 countries and more than 100 GW of cumulative installations.
Energy-storage R&D began in 2012, and the ES Series inverter launched in 2014. The Lynx Home battery series followed in 2021. GoodWe's Australian operation was established in 2015 and remains a key market today.
Available in Australia
GoodWe’s residential storage portfolio includes both standalone battery systems and integrated all-in-one solutions. The right option depends on your existing inverter, phase configuration, required storage capacity, and whether you are installing a new system or adding a battery to existing solar.
GoodWe ESA
All-In-One Energy Storage
The ESA is not just a battery — it's a complete energy system. By combining the hybrid inverter, LiFePO₄ battery modules, and smart energy management into one pre-wired unit, it drastically simplifies installation and maximises whole-home backup.
Standalone Battery Range
Before the ESA All-In-One series, GoodWe built its reputation on highly modular, standalone high-voltage and low-voltage batteries. While the **ESA is the current active solution** for new all-in-one installs, these Lynx series batteries remain in the market and are still compatible with specific GoodWe hybrid inverters.

What Makes GoodWe
Batteries Different?
Beyond the specs sheet — here's what the GoodWe technology actually means for your home, your safety, and your energy future.
LFP (LiFePO₄) Chemistry
GoodWe uses Lithium Iron Phosphate across its residential families — the Lynx Home U, Lynx F G2, Lynx U G3, and ESA All-in-One.
Modular & Stackable
Built from individual battery modules. The Lynx F G2 uses 3.2 kWh modules, while the ESA uses 5 kWh or 8 kWh modules.
Expandable for the Future
Add more modules later. The ESA even supports mixing old and new battery modules in the same stack — no need to discard your existing batteries to upgrade.
Whole-Home Backup (UPS Level)
The GoodWe ESA acts as a true Uninterruptible Power Supply. It features 63A full-home backup built-in — no extra external gateway box required.
Smart SEMS+ Monitoring
Every GoodWe system connects to the SEMS+ platform. Full visibility over solar generation, battery charge level, household consumption, and grid export.
Australian Weather Rated
Designed for tough Australian conditions. The ESA series is rated IP66 (highly water and dust resistant), Lynx Home U & U G3 are IP65, and Lynx F G2 is IP55.
GoodWe Battery Rebates
in Australia
The federal government is heavily subsidising home batteries to help Australians store cheap solar. Here is how the Cheaper Home Batteries Program works, and how to use it to your advantage.
Cheaper Home Batteries Program
Delivered through the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES), the government provides a discount of around 30% off the upfront cost of eligible battery systems connected to rooftop solar.
Important: The discount is handled by your installer via STCs (Small-scale Technology Certificates). You will not receive a cheque in the mail; the savings are applied directly to your quote.
Choose an Eligible System
You must install a CEC-approved battery system paired with a new or existing solar system.
System Meets Rules
The system must be grid-connected and capable of Virtual Power Plant (VPP) participation.
Installer Handles STCs
Your accredited installer manages the paperwork and STC creation through the Clean Energy Regulator.
Discount Applied
The value of the STCs is deducted from your final invoice, reducing your upfront cost.
Important Change: The Tiered Rebate (From 1 May 2026)
To encourage "right-sizing" and prevent oversized batteries, the government introduced a tiered discount structure. This means larger batteries no longer get the full rebate on every kWh.
Why GoodWe ESA is Perfect for the Rebate
Because the ESA uses modular 5 kWh and 8 kWh battery modules, you have total control over your capacity. You can mix and match modules to hit the sweet spot of 13-14 kWh to capture the full 100% rebate tier, without paying for excess capacity you don't need.
And if your energy needs grow later, the ESA allows you to add more modules. The system grows with you, and you never lose the value of your initial investment.
Check My GoodWe Rebate Eligibility ↗Mix 5kWh + 8kWh = 13kWh (Full Rebate Tier)
Disclaimer: Rebate eligibility depends on the specific battery model, installation requirements, system configuration, and current government legislation. STC prices fluctuate. Always confirm eligibility and final pricing with your accredited installer before making a purchase.
Take control
of your energy.
GoodWe's SEMS+ platform is your window into the system — mobile and web. Set it up in five steps, read your live data, and know exactly what to check if it ever goes dark.
Download SEMS+
Grab it from the App Store or Google Play. Needs Android 7.0+ or iOS 15.1+.
Create your account
Sign up with the email you want tied to your monitoring — or log in if you already have one.
Get plant access
Your installer already created a plant. Don't make a new one — ask them to add your account.
Connect to the network
Wi-Fi (10m), LAN (100m), or Bluetooth (5m) — depending on your comms hardware.
Read your data
Solar, battery SoC, home use, grid import/export, and alarms — live, in one view.
Already installed?
You probably don't need a new plant. Ask your installer — or the existing plant admin — to give or transfer access to your SEMS+ account.
Check these first
- 1Is your home internet / router working?
- 2Is the Wi-Fi / LAN cable still connected to the inverter?
- 3Is the inverter powered on? Check its display.
- 4Still down? Note the serials and call your installer.
When Something
Looks Wrong
Most "problems" with a home battery are not faults — they're communication dropouts, normal operating modes, or the system holding energy back on purpose.
System Shows "Offline"
Usually a network issueDon't assume the battery is faulty. The monitoring system has likely just lost connection to your home Wi-Fi.
Is your home internet working?
Has the router been reset or replaced recently?
Is the inverter's comms device still plugged in?
Does the system reconnect once the network is back?
Battery Isn't Charging
Solar or mode issueOften related to how much solar is being generated right now, or the schedule you've set in the app.
Is it a cloudy day or late afternoon? (Low solar generation)
What is the current battery state of charge? (Is it already full?)
Is there a "Time of Use" or schedule preventing charging?
Is grid charging enabled in the current operating mode?
Battery Isn't Discharging
System holding energySometimes the system is holding energy back on purpose to reserve it for a blackout or peak rates.
Is the household demand very low? (System may rely on solar only)
Is there a "Backup Reserve" set to keep energy for outages?
Is there a Time-of-Use schedule waiting for peak hours?
What is the minimum state-of-charge limit set?
GoodWe Shows an Alarm
Action requiredAn alarm means the system has detected an issue. Read it first, then collect the details below before calling your installer.
Have this ready for your installer:
Inverter & Battery model
Serial number
Alarm / Error code
Screenshot of the alarm
Time it occurred
Photo of the install (if safe)
Safety Warning: Do Not Open the Equipment
Never open the inverter, battery enclosure, DC connections, or switchboard. Batteries and solar systems carry dangerous electrical voltages. If you have a persistent alarm or electrical fault, contact your installer or a qualified technician immediately.
